By using planeandpatina.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. Plane & Patina is published by Type 5 Marketing LLC(“we”, “us”).

What this site is

Editorial content: research, comparisons and buying recommendations about hand tools, compiled from published manufacturer documentation, warranty terms, parts listings and publicly available specifications. It is offered for general information.

It is explicitly not based on hands-on testing. We have not handled the tools we write about, and every product page says so. Please read the methodology page before relying on anything here; it sets out exactly what our recommendations are and are not based on.

Accuracy

We take considerable care with sourcing, and specifications, prices, warranty terms and availability all change without notice. We make no warranty that the content here is complete, current or error-free.

Verify anything that matters to your purchase with the manufacturer or the seller before you buy.Prices in particular are date-stamped and refreshed daily, and the price on the retailer's own page at the moment you check out is the only one that governs your purchase.

Safety

Hand tools are sharp and woodworking carries a genuine risk of injury. Nothing on this site is a substitute for the manufacturer's instructions, proper instruction, or your own judgment about your own workshop. Any technique described here — sharpening, restoration, tool setup — is described in general terms and you undertake it at your own risk. Always read and follow the manufacturer's documentation for your specific tool.

The text, research, comparison tables and cost-per-decade figures on this site are ours. You are welcome to quote short passages with attribution and a link. Wholesale reproduction of pages or of the research tables is not permitted without permission.

Product names, brand names and logos belong to their respective owners and appear here for identification. Product images are served from the retailer's own content delivery network under their program terms. The atmospheric photography is licensed stock and never depicts our own workshop, tools or work — there is no workshop.

The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or from any purchase you make through it, including any dissatisfaction with a product we recommended.
