Privacy Policy

The short version

There are no user accounts on this site, nothing to log in to, and nothing to subscribe to. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not run display advertising, so there is no ad network profiling you here.

Three things do collect data: our analytics, our affiliate redirect, and the contact form. All three are described below.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links get clicked. It sets cookies and collects the usual: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser, and how you arrived. We use it to decide what to write next.

One custom event is worth naming explicitly because it is specific to how this site is funded. When you click a buy link we record an affiliate_clickevent containing the merchant, the product identifier and the page you clicked from. It contains nothing about you personally. We record it because this site shares an Amazon tracking ID with sibling sites, so Amazon's own reporting cannot tell us which site produced a click — this event is the only way we can see which pages are genuinely useful.

Google's handling of the data it collects is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out entirely with Google's browser opt-out add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts. The site works identically either way — nothing here is gated behind consent, and the buy links function normally with analytics blocked.

Affiliate links and cookies

Buy links pass through /go/, our own redirect, which appends our Amazon Associates tag and forwards you to Amazon. That redirect does not set a cookie of its own and does not store anything about you.

Amazon does set cookiesonce you arrive, which is how they attribute a purchase to us. That is Amazon's process under Amazon's privacy notice, and we receive only aggregate commission reporting from it — never your identity, your order, or what else was in your basket. The contact form

If you use the contact form, the name, email address, subject and message you type are emailed to us. They are not stored in a database, because there is no database. They sit in an email inbox, and we keep them for as long as the correspondence is useful.

The form applies three anti-spam checks: a hidden field bots fill in and humans do not, a check on how long the form was open before submission, and a per-IP submission limit. The IP-based limit holds your IP address in memory temporarily and it is not written to disk or associated with your message.

Hosting and logs

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses and request details for operational and security purposes. See Vercel's privacy policy.

Product images are served directly from Amazon's content delivery network. Loading a page with product photos means your browser makes a request to Amazon, and Amazon can see that request.

What we do not do

• Sell, rent or share personal information with anyone.
• Run display advertising or third-party ad networks.
• Operate a mailing list or send marketing email.
• Build profiles, run retargeting pixels, or fingerprint devices.
• Knowingly collect anything from children under 13.

Your choices

Block or clear cookies in your browser; use Google's analytics opt-out; use a content blocker. None of it changes how the site functions for you. If you want the contact-form correspondence we hold about you deleted, email info@planeandpatina.com and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “Last reviewed” date at the top of the page changes with it. Questions go to info@planeandpatina.com.
